The Spiritual World
One of our favorite Halloween trends this year is inspired by the Day Of The Dead, a central and southern Mexican holiday. During the beautiful multi-day celebration, family and friends gather together and pray for their dead, making elaborate alters (ofrendas) with bright florals and sugar skulls. The prayers and offerings are to help their beloved deceased in their spiritual journey. It's a gorgeously colorful event.
This year instead of your normal Halloween decorations, create an ofrenda box with old photographs, a flower garland and some candles. Make and hang papel picado banners. Decorate sugar cookies like sugar skulls. And seal the deal by dressing like the famous Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo.
